The Greatest Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies worldwide!

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really moist and chewy for days, they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Banana may be one of those flavors that may get lost when you inhale with this. It can be quite delicate flavor. It always bums me out when that occurs, because I really like the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

So when great flavored banana treats come along, we move a little mad for them.

These biscuits make the list of banana items to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moistthey almost melt in your mouth. In addition, using both oats and banana in them, they are basically healthy, right? And perfect for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as easy as eating them.

You have the typical suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You start by mixing all those beautiful ingredients together.

I must warn you. The odor of the mixture -- together with all the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen which makes the dough together with me (we made a deal that included him baking with me) and we both had to work hard to not put our faces, or even a straw, straight in to it.

Then you add all the dry ingredients (which means you simply use one bowl -- yay!) And combine it all together!

To bake themspoon about a tablespoon of dough and make a thick disk, instead of a ball. They spread a bit when baking, and thus don't put them too close together. Bake them for approximately 10-12 minutes for a nice, moist cookie. So yummy!

1 other thing I love about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandmother (my father's mother ) passed away in 2008. Once I started baking a lot a couple of years back, my uncle gave me cookbook that he'd had and didn't use. I've had it in my list to create several her desserts ever since.

It was a custom for my grandma to make them each Christmas! She gave everyone a huge tin of these, which was really an effort with 6 sons.

I now know exactly how much of an effort it was! My goodness. She left them using a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over an open fire. My dad and I had them around the stove. They cook very quickly and you have to be exact. Too long and they kind of disintegrated to the iron. Overly long and they burnt to the iron and we had to scrub it out.

My dad was massaging the batter and removing the cookies, I had been operating the iron, the hubs was timing things. It took many tries to get it right, but they had been so good! I have tried to make them again on my own and it works. I would really like to share the recipe, but the dang Learn More irons are all so hard to discover. And expensive. At some point, I would like to just earn a cookie with the identical gaufrette taste.

For now though, I'm sharing these biscuits. I really don't believe I ever had them when she made thembut they are from her novel.

It is such an enjoyable recipe book to look through, too. There are many handwritten pages, clippings and paper recipes that were taped to the book. I really like the way they used to compose recipes in the paper -- they had the man who submitted it is title and adorable little stories. It's so enjoyable to browse ! What another time in the world!

Anyways, I don't really know where this recipe originated from. The paper appears like it had been on a flier out of their square dancing group or something (they have been big into square dancing). It is undoubtedly from West Virginia, where they dwelt.

Either way, I am so glad to finally talk about a recipe from her book with you! I made a few changes to make them thicker and more puffier and they're delicious. There'll be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now like the banana.
